It was Danny's dream to be a member of the school basketball team. Today he had a chance. He played with boys who were older then. Danny wanted to show that he was as fast and strong as the other boys. He tried his best but made one mistake after another. When the game was over he hurried off the basketball court. He had no chance to make the team after that. "You are too small'' the coach said.

Danny's family soon noticed how unhappy he was. His elder sister Judy tried to find the reason. One day they began talking about basketball.
"Looking sad won't help", said Judy, who loved basketball too. "Why don't train more? You can do it in our yards.

When the game was over, Danny didn't hear the cheers of the fans. All Danny beared were the words of their captain: "Danny is small but he is the best little player I've ever seen".

This was a wonderful idea to Danny. So after lunch he went outside and began to play. Hour after hour he trained. He stood in different places in the yard and tried to make baskets. Sometimes Judy played with him, but more often he played alone.

At the end of three weeks of hard work Danny was a far better player. It was time to try again. That day one of the team's players was ill. So the coach told Danny to take the place of that player. How surprised the coach was when he saw that Danny was one of the fastest and best players.
