After breakfast he and his son went out to take the snow off of it. Nick's father began to dig round it. Nick helped him at first and then he began to sweep the snow off the car. They helped each other. Nick liked to help his father. He enjoyed working in the cold fresh air. In this way they were busy for an hour or so. At last it was possible to drive the car into the street. So Nick's father got into the car.

"You're a big help to me, Nick", he said to his son. "Thank you, my boy!"
For breakfast people may have boiled eggs or an omelette. If eggs are boiled two or three minutes we called them soft boiled eggs. If they are boiled five minutes or more we call them hard boiled eggs. Some people don't like eggs. They prefer oatmeal, buckwheat porridge, or semolina for breakfast. After porridge, boiled eggs, or an omelette, people drink coffee, tea or milk.

I don't like to drink strong tea or coffee, I prefer weak coffee with milk. We always put some sugar into our coffee or tea. To make our coffee or tea sweet we add two or three spoonful of sugar and stir it with a teaspoon.

For dinner we usually have soup for the first course. Some people like cabbage soup, beet soup, or mushroom soup. Others prefer broth. Broth is made of meat or chicken. If we put some rice into the broth, we call it rice soup. If cook it with noodles, it is called noodle soup. After the soup comes the main course. For the main course we have meet or fish, potatoes and macaroni or buckwheat porridge. Meat can be boiled, stewed or roasted. If we want to prepare boiled meat, we wash the meat, pour a lot of water into a saucepan, put the meat into it, cover it with a lid put the saucepan on the stove. The meat has to be boiled for three or four hours until it becomes tender. If meat is boiled for only a short time it will be tough. Tough meat is not tasty.

If we want to have stewed meat, we wash the meat, put it into a saucepan or a frying-pan, add a little water, cover the pan with a lid and leave the meat stew on low heat, adding water from time to time. Then we add salt and butter. If we want to cook roast beef, we wash the meat, put it in a frying pan, add some butter and let the meat roast on the stove until it is tender enough and tasty.
